5 Beverages of our Day to Day Life

Monsoon season is knocking at our door!  And it’s time to make our body warm. Let’s indulge into some hot beverages to make the environment cozy.

Masala Chai – This is one of the drinks, people not only love it but becomes a daily habit for many people also.

Procedure to make it:

  • Boil a pan of water. Add the tea leaves and ginger and simmer for a minute.
  • Add the chai masala. For chai masala, grind equal quantities of star anise (badiyan), cinnamon (dal chini), laung (cloves) and elaichi (cardamom).
  • Add the milk and sugar, and boil once more, and then strain it into the cups, and serve.

Hot Chocolate – The most adorable beverage people love to drink every time their sweet tooth craves for chocolate.

Procedure to make it:

  • Bring ¾ cup water to a simmer in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat.
  • Whisk in 3 Tbsps. cocoa powder until no lumps remain, then add milk and return to a simmer.
  • Whisk in chocolate and sugar and cook, whisking frequently, until mixture is smooth and creamy and chocolate is melted, about 5 minutes.
  • Divide hot chocolate among mugs. Top with whipped cream and dust with cocoa powder.

Spiced Coffee – One of the best drinks to sip around anytime you want without wasting much time in preparing this drink.

Procedure to make it:

  • Combine the milk, sugar, cocoa and vanilla in a saucepan.
  • Cook over medium-low heat for 5-7 minutes.
  • Stir occasionally and then add Coffee
  • Pour the hot milk mixture into coffee cups. The milk adds rich mocha flavour to regular coffee.

Kesaria Doodh – A hot milk beverage with a combination of saffron and cardamom, eating daily makes you fit and healthy.

Procedure to make it:

  • Boil a pan of milk and simmer over low heat.
  • Add sugar, saffron and cardamom powder.
  • Stir till the sugar is dissolved and simmer for about 5 min.
  • Serve hot garnished with green cardamoms, pistachios and almonds.

Hot Apple Punch – A light and warm, apple flavoured drink to sip on when it gets chilly. Though it’s not that common but it’s delicious to try more than once!

Procedure to make it:

  • Extract the apple juice along with the ginger.
  • Put the juice, dalchini, salt and black pepper in a pan and bring to a boil.
  • Simmer for 2-3 minutes to infuse the flavors.
  • Divide the pudina and julienne ginger into four cups, and strain the hot liquid over it.
  • Add a few drops of lemon juice and serve.
